Creating an online store for your company can be a daunting task for anyone. But you have to also optimize your products that way you can beat out your competition. Here are four ways to get the most out of your e-commerce shop.

1. Use People Friendly Title Tags

Don’t be too technical in your title tags for your e-commerce products. Create tags that will get people to click on the link. If you don’t draw people’s attention to your page, they will just scroll on by to the next website.

If you’re looking for “King Size Mattresses” on search engines, which one would you most likely click?

I know I’d click on the second one. “King Size Mattresses You’ll Love” is much more appealing than “Mattress Size Chart and Mattress Dimensions”.

2. Develop Keyword Specific Categories

The more categories you can provide your customers the easier it will be for them to be able to jump around products.

If you’re selling different styles of the same product, create categories for each of those items in your store.

3. Utilize Rich Snippets

The more information the better when it comes to your e-commerce shop. One way to do enhance the product information is by using rich snippets for each item.

Rich snippets allow you to provide potential customers with more information about the available products. By doing so, people will be more inclined on clicking the link to your item, which could potentially lead to a purchase of the items.

Let’s take a look at how Costco utilizes rich snippets. Here, when searching “King Size Mattresses”, Costco provides you with three extra links. These links help direct you to more specific pages on their website.

The first rich snippet, “Sign In For Price $1299.99…” gives you a special offer for an item on their website.  Secondly, “Cal King Mattresses”, allows you to pick a specific model. Lastly, “Novaform 14″ Serafina Pearl …” is the most direct of the rich snippets, as it’ll direct the customer to an exact brand in their store.
