2018 is right around the corner. And that means that there are going to be new trends that SEO experts are going to have to be aware of next year.
Here is a breakdown of the top trends for 2018 from SEO PowerSuite. We will go over the second half of the trends next week.
Improvement of SERPs
It used to be that the best way to generate traffic to your website was to improve be on the first page of major search engines. Nowadays, that might not necessarily be the case.
Search engines are constantly trying to improve your search results. Back in the day, Google used to have just 10 links on the first page. That is no longer the case.
Lets take a look at an example. We are searching for a popular baseball team in the Southern California area, no not the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Right away you will notice changes. At the top of the page, there are three news articles about possible moves the Los Angeles Angels could be making to their roster. On the right side, you can find even more information about the baseball team.
As you can see, it is not all about the blue links for Google, there are more ways you can absorb the information you are seeking.
Structured Data
Another trend for next year could be the rise of structured data. Why would you use structured data for your website? Essentially, it is a way to display content into SERPs.
The most likely reason why one will use structured data to improve the click-through-rate. Because it gives a user a bit more information, structured data should be used for your most important content.
Speed
This is perhaps the most obvious of all the trends for 2018, but speed is going to be one of the biggest indicator for how your site ranks.
Speed for your website is two-fold, however. Not only does it affect where your website is going to show up in search engines, it helps/hurts your user experience. No one wants to wait for a site to load. That is why it is important for your page speed to be around one second.

Google bots come and crawl your site and search for the keywords that are being used. This includes all variations of the most important keywords. The search engine, over time, learns and adapts to better index your site on Google based on its findings.
Henceforth, it is best switch up your main keyword within a page on your website. If you do this properly, your site should be showing up for related keyword searches.
